The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked Alliance Air, a subsidiary of the state-run Air India, to explore possibilities of flight operations from Mysuru.
This comes after Deputy Commissioner C Shikha’s letter to the Civil Aviation Secretary, seeking to resume scheduled flight operations to Mysuru Airport.
Capt Kathpali, CEO of Alliance Air who has been assigned the task of the feasibility study, is expected to get in touch with the DC and business heads of the city and its surroundings soon.
There have been no scheduled operations of passenger flights to Mysuru after SpiceJet pulled out its only flight soon after the last Dasara.
Later, following a representation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru zone, Shikha had made a strong recommendation to resume flight operations highlighting the potential of the city.
She sought diversion of various existing flights operating between south Indian cities, stating Mysuru has potential air passengers throughout the year, including during Dasara.
AAI was also requested to prevail upon Air Pegasus which started scheduled operations from Hubballi, to connect Mysuru.
